Boone County 4-H
The Boone County 4-H program is putting on a dinner theater production of “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown.” The shows will take place at the Danville Community center on Sunday, August 12 at 2:00 PM, Saturday, August 18, at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, August 19 at 2:00 PM. Ticket prices are as follows: Adults—$15, Seniors and Students—$12, Children 3-6—$6. To purchase tickets or make a reservation, please call the WVU Extension Office at 304-369-5869.
Boone Career & Technical Center, along with Southern WV Community & Technical College will have their first annual “Boone County Education Celebration” on Tuesday, Aug. 14, between the hours of 1 and 6 p.m. It is located on Rt. 3 at the Boone County Career & Technical Center and Boone County Southern WV Community & Technical College campus in Rock Creek.
Roberts, Lovejoy, Hager Reunion
Sunday, August 12, 2012, at Mud River Dam Shelter #2. Everyone is welcome to attend this reunion. Special singing and preaching will be featured. Please bring a covered dish and have some fun!
Ball Family Reunion
The Annual Ball Reunion will be held Sunday, August 19, at noon. It is scheduled to be held at Ball Chapel Recreation Building, located at Jeffrey.

Notice of Meeting
The Boone County Public Service District will hold its regular monthly Water and Wastewater meetings on Monday, August 13, 2012 at the Board office.
If you wish to be on the agenda please call the Board office at 304-369-2622. The Water Board meeting will open at 6p.m., prevailing time, followed by the Wastewater meeting at its Board office in room 101 of the Danville Community Center, Hopikins Avenue, Danville, West Virginia, for the following purposes: 1. Water Agenda-Approval of Invoices and Line Extensions. 2. Wastewater Agenda-Approval of Invoices and District Operations.
Boone Co. Assn. of Retired School Employees (BCARSE) will meet Wednesday, Aug. 15 at 10 a.m. at Park Avenue Restaurant in Danville. Gary bell will present the Devotion. The program will be a memorial service remembering our members who have passed in the last year.
Door prizes will be given out; 50/50 will be available and food & fellowship will be enjoyed by everyone. President Jenny Light encourages everyone to attend this meeting.
Our newly retired Boone County employees will be recognized and those attending the meeting will be treated to a free meal.
Boone Co. Chapter AARP meeting
Boone Co. Chapter AARP will meet, Tuesday, September 4, at Black Diamond Arbors at 1 p.m. Trena Hager will present a program with information for Hospice Care for home-bound patients and their family members.
Refreshments will be served at the conclusion of the program. Dora Campbell, President urges members to attend. New members are welcome.
2012 Photo Fund Drive
There will be a 2012 Photo Fund Drive at the Spruce River Volunteer Fire Dept. on Sunday, Aug. 12, 2012, from noon to 5 p.m. at the Spruce River Fire Station. All proceeds will be going towards updating rescue and firefighting equipment. A complimentary 11x14 family portrait with a $20 donation. No appointment is needed and walk-ins are welcome.
Foster Neighborhood Crime Watch Meeting
Foster Neighborhood Crime Watch meeting will be Thursday, Aug. 16, 2012, at the Foster Community Center. Guests will be the team from ADT Security Systems, Nikki Turner, sales manager with Brandon Brown, Steven Jones, Diana Schultz, and Steve Wills. Come find out how to make your home more secure. The 2nd Annual Big Coal River Heritage Festival
The 2nd Annual Big Coal River Heritage Festival will be held on Saturday, September 29, 2012 at John Slack Park, Racine, West Virginia. The festival will begin at 10 a.m. and last until 6 p.m. There will be crafters, food vendors, musicians, quilts on display, and a tour of the one room schoolhouse. Renee’s School of Dance

Boone County WIC
The Boone County WIC office will once again be offering the Farmers Market Vouchers. These vouchers will be given out to those participants that are currently on WIC. The participant must be up-to-date on their appointments and must bring their WIC folder with them. Qualified WIC participants may come in to the WIC office from 8:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. on the following Tuesdays: August: 14, 21, or 28. Alice in Wonderland at library
There is going to be an Alice in Wonderland themed Tea Party at the Boone Madison Public Library on August 15, 2012. One must be signed up in order to attend. The sign up dates are July 23 - August 3, 2012. Guardians may bring children ages 2-7 only and it is going to be a formal gathering. Please do not be late for this very important date!
Madison VFW Post 5578 is building a Veteran’s Memorial to honor mothers of veterans and veterans. Purchase a brick for $50. TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) meets every Thursday at the Fountain of Life Worship Center, Rock Creek. The entrance is on the left side of the building. Weigh in is from 5 to 5:30 p.m. TOPS is a nonprofit Weight Loss support group. Membership is $28 a year which includes a monthly magazine. Games and incentives are used weekly for weight loss motivation. TOPS is open to men, women and children seven years or older.
Sherman High School
Sherman High School’s classes of 1950, 1951, and 1952 will hold a joint Class Reunion on Saturday, September 15, 2012 at the Holiday Inn & Suites (formerly Ramada Inn) in South Charleston. Scott High School’s class of 2014 will be publishing The Scott High School Community Cookbook this spring. The school would like to encourage all community members to submit their favorite recipes. All submissions need to be turned in no later than March 5th.

Lincoln County Fair
The Lincoln County Fair/Fall Festival is looking for the following, for the Fair August 30, 31, September 1, and 2, 2012. Arts & crafts, and flea market people. Contest for homemade quilts, home grown veggies, home canned veggies, baked goods (pies, cakes, breads), home grown flowers, and photo. In the contest category, each will be judged and awarded first, second and third place winners.
