Ernest Edward Long, 90, of Spencer, died at 4:30 p.m., Monday, September 10, 2012, in Eldercare of West Virginia, Ripley, after an extended illness.
He was born June 22, 1922, in Julian, Boone County, a son of the late Everett and Julie Kirk Long.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Icy Mae Long; five brothers and five sisters.
Mr. Long was a retired employee of the Kirby Company, Cleveland, OH. He was a devout Christian and a member of the Memorial United Methodist Church, Spencer.
Survivors include a sister, Mae Stephens of Julian; numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Long has been cremated. There will be a memorial service for him Saturday, September 22 at 1:00 p.m. in the Memorial United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Homer Hensley officiating. His cremated remains will be buried in the Hill Cemetery, Julian.
