Floda Marie Walker Lipscomb was born in Boone County, West Virginia on February 22, 1931 to the late Clyde and Goldie (Cobb) Walker.
She was the youngest of three children and grew up in Seth West Virginia. She graduated from Sherman High School where she met her future husband, Donald. She worked many years as a secretary for various companies, ending her career with Concrete Cutters. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She was a devoted wife to Donald for 58 years-until his death in 2009.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Edward Lipscomb, her parents, Clyde and Goldie Walker and her two beloved brothers, Clyde and Dallas.
She is survived by her son, Charles Harvey Lipscomb, his wife Marcy; three grandsons, Kennie Webb (wife Kimberly), Calvin Lipscomb and Tyler Lipscomb (wife Kellie); great grandchildren-Leia, Ashton, Ayden, Aldyn and Walker; Sisters-in-law Carolyn May, Connie Lipscomb, Lydia Walker, Ruby Lipscomb, Judy Bowden; brothers-in-law J.D. Lipscomb, Marvin May and her dearest friends,”Tootsie” (Mabel) White, Doris Tanner, Ruby Smith and Mike and Betty Riley.
Floda was proud to be a “Coal Miner’s Daughter” and to hail from the beautiful state of “West By God” Virginia. Her favorite song for the last 40 years has been “Take Me Home Country Roads”, it always brought a smile to her face. She will be missed by her family and friends.
