Traffic accident near Food City injures woman

GOODY, Ky. — A two vehicle accident injured one woman and snarled traffic around 11:45 a.m. on Monday morning near the intersection of Food City on U.S. 119 at Goody, Ky.

The rear end collision caused considerable damage to both vehicles.

Jearline Wolford of Stopover, Ky. was placed on a backboard and in a neck brace by EMS workers and transported to a local hospital. She was driving a red Ford Mustang.

The other driver was identified as Evelyn Adkins of Delbarton, W.Va., by Trooper J.A. Nolte of the Kentucky Stat e Police (KSP). She was operating a gray Saturn.

Nolte is the investigating officer. He was assisted at the scene of the accident by Pike County Deputy Joey Gillman.

The Belfry Volunteer Fire Department (BVFD) and First Response Ambulance also responded to the accident. The BVFD spread a drying agent on the road to soak up antifreeze that had spilled onto the highway. They also helped with traffic control and removed some debris from the roadway.

The ambulance service responded with three ambulances and several EMS personnel.

The accident is still under investigation. The road was cleared and traffic started to flow a short time after the wreck.
