Bulldogs fall at Valley-Fayette

MONTGOMERY — It was another strong performance for Van’s Brandon Elswick, Friday, September 13, at Montgomery but he could not turn the tide in a 40-20 Van loss to Valley (Fayette) at Martin Field.

The loss dropped the Bulldog record to 1-2 on the season.

Elswick rushed 27 times for 267 yards, the longest being 45 yards. He passed four times, completing two, for 11 yards. Backup Cole Price was also two-for-four, adding 19 yards through the air for Van. Elswick scored two of the team’s touchdowns on the ground.

Dante Wilkerson accounted for three Valley touchdowns as they raised their record to 2-0. Keyshawn Payne ran for 141 yards and one touchdown on ten carries, with his longest run being for 45 yards.

Raeshawn Breckenridge was two-for-three passing for 63 yards and a touchdown score.

Corey Agosti scored the other Van touchdown.

Agosti led the defensive unit, with 18 tackles. Elswick and Derrick Haley added eight each for the Bulldogs. Justin Lambert got five stops; Logan Crouse, and Jacob Perry, four each; Jamie Belcher, three; Cole Price and Brayden White, two apiece; and Gage Shipman, one for Van.

On the season, Elswick now has 551 yards on 54 carries for Van.

The Bulldogs have an off week this Friday before returning to the gridiron Friday, September 27.
