The annual Chapmanville Apple Butter Festival was held this past weekend and has gone down in the books as the best ever.
Chapmanville Recreation Director Sallie Stollings said this year’s event was such a huge success, they have decided to extend it to three days next year.
“The festival will be held the same weekend next year — the last weekend in September — and it will be Thursday, Friday and Saturday. This year was the first time we ever had a carnival and it will definitely be back next year. There were more than 3,500 people at the festival on Saturday evening and we had more vendors than we ever had in the past. We had vendors from Williamson and all over the region.”
The car show, which took place on Saturday, had 72 cars competing for the trophies.
The Coal River Model Railroad Club displays set up in the municipal building, one that was elaborate and featured a loadout facility complete with Boone County coal loaded in the coal cars and another that was kid-friendly.
Chapmanville is already looking forward to Christmas in the Village, which is set to be held on December 14. Mark your calendars and plan to attend or contact Sallie Stollings at 304-855-4582 for more information.
