The Logan County Sheriff’s Department is continuing its fight against prostitution in Logan County. Five suspects have been arrested on prostitution related charges during a sting operation. The Logan Sheriff’s Department was assisted by the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Department during this operation.
It happened in the Man area of Logan County yesterday. These deputies arrested five males for solicitation for prostitution.
Logan County Sheriff Sonya Dingess Porter says the purpose of the arrests went beyond just prostitution.
“It also attacks other issues. Where there is prostitution, there is drug use, or those individuals who commit burglary to gain money to participate in prostitution as well as other crimes” said Porter.
She went on to say that three out of the five suspects had offered controlled prescription medications to perform sexual acts. Sheriff Porter said that she greatly appreciated the assistance of the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Department and said that without their deputies’ assistance, this operation would not have been so successful.
Those arrested during the prostitution sting: Jerry Boyd, of Pikeville, Ky., was charged with solicitation for prostitution; Bobby Robinette, of Mallory, was charged with solicitation for prostitution; Steven D. Maynard, of Leon, was charged with solicitation for prostitution; Billy James Hatley, of Bruno, was charged with solicitation for prostitution and David Vernatter, of McConnell, was charged with solicitation for prostitution.
