CROWN CITY, OH — The Van Bulldogs fell to 3-6 on the 2013 season with a 46-14 loss to South Gallia, Ohio, Friday evening.
The loss assured the Dogs of a losing season this year, as they have one
game remaining, this week at powerful Man. The Hillbillies have become a top ten Single A team again this season under veteran Coach Harvey Manns.
Although Van officials did not provide quarter-by-quarter scores, it is clear South Gallia dominated the game from start to finish. South Gallia is the equivalent of a West Virginia Class A team.
This time out, Corey Agosti led the Van offense, picking up 109 yards on ten carries. Quarterback Brandon Elswick, the usual offensive leader, gained just 35 yards on six tries. Logan Crouse was next, with seven totes for 31 yards. Justin Lambert carried the pigskin once for four yards.
Agosti also led the defense, being credited with 14 tackles. Derick Halley had eight tackles; Justin Lambert, six; Crouse, five; Elswick, Cole Price, Zack Pridemore and Jordan Hartwell, three each; and Nick Hager, Ethan Acord, Tyler Houser, Gage Shipman and Brayden White, two apiece for the Dogs.
Agosti scored both of the Van touchdowns, on running plays.
This week’s concluding game at Man gets underway at 7:30 p.m.
