MADISON — On November the 18th 2013 the Webelo Scouts of Pack 289 in Madison presented Rev Up Madison with a donation in the amount of $900.

The Cub Scouts restored an old chopper bicycle to fresh off the line condition.

The bike was customized with ape hanger handlebars and custom flake paint with 17 coats of clear.

Raffle tickets for the bike were sold at several locations in the Madison and Danville area; such as a Scott high school football game, Foodland, Advanced Auto Parts, Kroger, and Magic Mart.

The winner of the raffle was Lena Miller of Danville.

By rebuilding the old bicycle the Scouts learned that just because something is old doesn’t mean it’s useless and also demonstrated good citizenship by donating the money to Rev Up Madison.

The combination of the two events earned the Webelo Scouts the Handyman and Citizenship activity badges.
