UC hires Van High graduate as track cross country coach

CHARLESTON — University of Charleston Director of Athletics Dr. Bren Stevens announced the hiring of Nick Bias as the Head Men’s Cross Country Track & Field Coach at the University of Charleston.

“I was most excited to be able to secure Coach Nick Bias as the next coach of our Men’s Track and Cross Country teams,” said Dr. Stevens. “In addition to having excellent coaching skills, Nick is a very well respected runner in the Charleston community, as well as within the state of West Virginia.”

Bias will immediately begin his duties with the Golden Eagles resuming the programs for the 2014-15 seasons. Prior to joining UC, Bias coached at the scholastic level most recently guiding the West Virginia AAA State Champion in Cross Country.

Bias also coached Boone County track athletes as well.

Bias ran collegiately for Concord University winning a championship as a scoring member of the 2004 squad as well as being a conference standout in the 10k.

Bias was also honored by the WVIAC as Scholar Athlete of the Year.

Bias is a graduate of Van High School.
