Flash flooding is possible in Boone and 33 other West Virginia counties as thunderstorms packing heavy rains move across the state.

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for an area stretching from the Ohio River to the southern coalfields.

The flash flood watch is in effect from 2 p.m. Tuesday through Wednesday evening for Barbour, Boone, Braxton, Cabell, Calhoun, Clay, Doddridge, Fayette, Gilmer, Harrison, Jackson, Kanawha, Lewis, Lincoln, Logan, Mason, McDowell, Mingo, Nicholas, Pleasants, Pocahontas, Putnam, Roane, Raleigh, Randolph, Ritchie, Taylor, Tyler, Upshur, Wayne, Webster, Wirt, Wood, and Wyoming counties.
