A hunch from State Police landed eight people, all believed to be from Lincoln County, in jail. All eight suspects are facing charges in connection with stealing copper.

Wednesday, July 21, Troopers noticed a suspicious looking truck in the Racine area of Boone County. When they looked in the bed of the truck, they found about $30,000 worth of stolen copper.

The copper was taken from the Hobett Mine in Boone County.

Anthony Rusnak and Heather Wiblen are charged with transferring and receiving stolen property and conspiracy.

Ronald Dean Hicks, Shane Allen McComas, Gregory Ray Cooper, Christopher Messer and Renee Garrett are all charged with one count of grand larceny and conspiracy.

Ronald Dean Hicks remains in the Southwestern Regional Jail in Barboursville on a $60,000 bond, while Cooper remains in the same jail on a $25,000 bond. Dustin Wiblen is also still in the Southwestern Regional Jail, but no bond amount has been set.

All of the suspects are believed to be Lincoln County residents, according to officials.

Dustin Wiblen is charged with two counts of grand larceny and two counts of conspiracy.

Troopers were able to get confessions from all of the suspects.
