Bill Wallace, 90 years, 8 months, was born in Stark, Boone County, WV, died June 7, 2010. He spent most of his life in or near the Army having enlisted in 1937 near the time his twin brother, Ted, enlisted. After his discharge from that tour, he came back to the coal mines in Boone County.
At the beginning of World War II, he and his brothers, Ted and Johnie, as well as most of their friends, joined the Army again. This time Bill stayed for a period of 44 years in the Army or Reserves. He rose in rank to Chief Warrant Officer.
The twins parachuted into many battles in many countries, including Normandy, Rhineland, Ardennes, Central Europe, Ruhr, Alsace, Bastogne, Ste. Marie Du Mont, Carentan, Strasbourg, Nijmegen, Berghtesgaden, and in Belgium. He was in the Army during the Korean War and Vietnam War.
Bill was a marksman and an avid golfer.
His wife, Martha, predeceased him, as well as his parents, James Frank and Mittie Adkins Wallace; sisters, Inez, Victoria, Bertha, Ida, Drusia, Ethel, and Letha; brothers, Millard, Ted and Johnie, who gave all in Luxembourg during WWII.
Bill was enurned along side his wife in Kentucky Veterans Central Cemetery at Radcliff, Ky., near his home in Louisville, Ky.
He was survived by two daughters, Lucylynn and Letha Catherine, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Thomas Junior Adkins
Thomas Junior Adkins, 65, of Glen Rogers passed away Saturday, July 17, 2010.
Born June 24, 1945, he was the son of the late James and Ruth Adkins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Larry and Bobby Ray Adkins.
Thomas loved to fish and hunt and was an avid outdoorsman; he loved to be on the water and to be with his grandchildren.
Those left to cherish his memory include Former wife Ok Adkins of Glouchester, Va.; son Thomas Adkins and wife Ericka of N.C.; Brothers, James Adkins and wife Edith of Alkol, and George Adkins of Hurricane; sister Mary Sue Akers of Shady Spring; Grandchildren Aiden and Avery Adkins of N.C.; devoted friend Elaine Johnson; and a host of nieces, nephews and other family. Per his wishes, Thomas will be cremated.

Jimmy D. “J.D.” Loftus
Jimmy D. “J.D.” Loftus 70 of Uneeda, passed away July 20, 2010 at CAMC General Division, Charleston, WV.
He was a coal miner and a member of the Uneeda Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents Ventru and Thelma Kuhn Loftus and a brother Teddy Loftus.
He is survived by his wife Donna, sons; Barry Loftus, of Uneeda, Brian Loftus of Uneeda, Gregory Loftus of Robinson, Jimmy Loftus of Indiana, and Donnie Loftus of Uneeda; two brothers, Elory Loftus of Quinland and Denzel Loftus of Uneeda; 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was on Saturday, July 24, at Handley Funeral Home, Danville, with Roger Dingess officiating. Burial followed at Price Cemetery, Uneeda.

Ruth Ann Baldwin, daughter of Hassell and Edna Baldwin, died July 11, 2010.
She was born Feb. 1, 1943.
A celebration of life service is being planned for Friday, Aug. 6, 2010, at 2 p.m.

James Ernie Atkins
James Ernie Atkins, 82, left this world peacefully on July 24, 2010, at home surrounded by his loving family after a long and hard fought battle with Parkinson's disease.
James was preceded in death by his parents, William Ernest and Ora Mae Butler Atkins; son, Jeffrey Lee Atkins; great-grandson, Jonathon Jarah Curasi; sister, Ernestine (Teeny) Williams; and brothers, Robert Lee Atkins and Kenneth R. Atkins.
Ernie is survived by his loving wife, Mary Lou Atkins of Charleston; daughters, Marilyn (Brian Bills) of Haleiwa, Hawaii, Linda (Dave Woodell) of Charleston, and Mary Beth (Tim Kirby) of Charleston; son, Charles (Heather) Atkins of Charleston; grandchildren, Janna Bills, Erin Grabarek, Ashley Woodell, Carla Fitzsimmons, Sandi Fitzsimmons, Davy Woodell, Matt Woodell, Ben Woodell, Timmy Kirby, Nicholas Kirby, Noah Kirby, and April Marie Curasi; great-grandchildren, Honey Marie Hale, Jewell Curasi, Mia Bella Fitzsimmons, and Angelo Curasi.
Funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, July 28, at the Charleston Mountain Mission Church, 1600 7th Avenue, Charleston. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, South Charleston. Pastor Fairley McCormick will be officiating.

Nina Catherine Clark
Nina Catherine Clark, 88, of Ashford went home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 23, 2010, surrounded by her family.
She was a member and custodian of the Rumble Community Baptist Church. She took pride in cleaning that church for 44 years.
She loved her family and was a dedicated Christian. She often spoke of how much she loved her babies and how much she loved everybody. She was a wonderful mother, maw-maw and a true friend.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Clark; father, Alfred B. Hall; and mother, Minnie F. Hall.
She is survived by her children, Isabelle “Mae” and her husband Jeanie Blair of Ashford, Albert “Benny” Clark and his wife Judy of Oak Hill, Mary Jane and her husband Malcolm Harkless of Fosterville, and Sue and her husband
Carlton Riley of Charleston; grandchildren, J.B. Blair, Steven Blair, Crystal Mollohan, Eric Harkless, Stephanie Hughes, Terri Stewart, Alan Clark, Danny Spradling, Michael Riley, and Brian Riley; and several great-grandchildren.
She had a big family that loved her and will miss her very much.

Brookie E. Breedlove
Brookie E. Breedlove, 88, of Sod went to be with the Lord Friday, July 23, 2010, at home after a long illness.
She was a member of Forks of Coal Missionary Baptist Church.
She was a retired cook for Woodville Elementary School.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cleon; son, Leo; grandson, Brian; and great-grandson, Carsun.
She is survived by three sons, Danny (Dorothy) Breedlove of Woodville, Willie (Mallie) Breedlove of Richmond, Va., and Russel (Teresa) Breedlove of Sod; three daughters, Judith (Ed) Watson of Tornado, Kathy (Jerry) Skeenes of Alum Creek, and Joyce (Jerry) Midkiff of Nitro; one daughter-in-law, Mary Lou Breedlove of Canal Winchester, Ohio; one sister, Frances Summerfield of Alum Creek; 15 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.
Service was held at 7 p.m. Monday, July 26, 2010, at Curry Funeral Home, 2097 Childress Road, Alum Creek, with Pastor Paul Meadows officiating. Burial followed in Forks of Coal Memorial Park, Alum Creek.
