Christopher Todd Ryan

Christopher Todd “Chris” Ryan, 41, of Danville passed away Sunday evening, July 25, 2010, in an accidental drowning.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, the Rev. Jim Ryan and Bert and Susie Griffith; and grandfather-in-law, Charles Mitchell.

He was a proud father and a loving husband, son and brother. Chris was a great friend who was always willing to lend a hand. He wore his heart on his sleeve and showed love to all he knew. Chris loved the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Kelly; daughters, Kendyl, age 14, Matney, age 11 and Dylan, age 7; parents, Jimmie and Christa Ryan; brother, Michael (Tina); and nephew, Logan, all of Morris, Ala.; and grandmother, Doris Ryan of Foster. Loving-in-laws include Gregory “Butch” Jarrell, Grace Ann and Charles "Buck" Mitchell; grandparents-in-law, “Nanna” Madge Mitchell and Stella Wallace; brothers-in-law, Rob (Ivy) Mitchell of Raleigh, N.C., Chuck Mitchell of Madison, Christopher Mitchell of South Charleston and Joshua Mitchell of Madison; sister-in-law, Jessica (Jeremy); and many loving nieces and nephews.

Services were held Thursday, July 29, at Handley Funeral Home, Danville, with Dr. Frank Frye officiating.

A fund has been established for Kendyl, Matney and Dylan. Donations will be accepted at Boone County Bank, Madison.

Sharon Regina Walls

Sharon Regina “Sherry” Walls, 60, of Van went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 25, 2010, at Hubbard Hospice House, with her family and friends by her side.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Jim and Agnes Runyon and Garla and Lily Walls; uncles, Paul Runyon and Howard, Doug and Hillis Walls; and aunts, Ruth Walker and Idella Walls Dawson.

She was a member of Wharton Missionary Baptist Church, where at one time she sang in the choir. She loved everyone and was a special person.

She is survived by her parents, Scottie and Geneva Walls of Van; brother, Paul Doug Walls of Kearneysville; sister and her husband, Donna and David Hartman of Julian; nephew, Brian Hartman of Julian; aunt, Bonnie Stidard of Elizabeth, Pa.; and cousin, James Allen Runyon of Concord, N.C. She also loved her special friends, Gordan and Linda Eversole.

The family would like to thank the caregivers, Judy and Glen, and Hubbard Hospice House for all they did during this time.

Services were held Wednesday, July 28, at Handley Funeral Home, Danville, with the Rev. Darrell Searls and Lyle Jarrell officiating. Burial followed in Memory Gardens, Madison.

Georgia Frances Browning

Georgia Frances Browning, 78, of Nellis went to heaven to be with her husband July 25, 2010.

She was born July 6, 1932, in Julian and was the daughter of the late Bern and Mabel Turley Williams. Also preceding her in death was her husband, Harold A. Browning; sister, Della Mae Carden; and daughter-in-law, Vickie Browning.

Georgia was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She will be missed by many and will be laid to rest in the comforting hands of God. She was a member of Emmons Church of God.

She is survived by sons, Gary and wife, Rhonda Williams, of Nellis, Steve Browning of Danville and Billy and wife, Laura Browning, of Nellis; daughters, Shillia and husband, Terry Laws, of Nellis and Karen and husband, Terry McNeely, of Lincoln County; brother, James and wife, Charlene Williams, of Ohio; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

A graveside service was held Thursday, July 29, in Pineview Cemetery, Orgas, with the Rev. Mike Graley officiating.

Arrangements are by Handley Funeral Home, Danville.

Ruth Ann Baldwin

Ruth Ann Baldwin was born on Feb. 1, 1943, the third child of Hassell and Edna Baldwin of Sharples, W.Va.

She was called home to rejoin her parents, one son — Aaron Whitaker, and a sister Eileen Baldwin in Heaven, while attending a church picnic on Sunday, July 11, 2010.

She is survived by seven children — Sharon Wise, Theresa Whitake, Cynthia Stover, Regina Cashen, Mary Ludwig, Jerry Whitaker and Julia Lynch; thirteen grandchildren — Ricky Stabe; Joseph Wise; Gerald and Joseph Stover; Seth, Nathan, Eli and Gage Ludwig; Sean, Ryan and Shannon Cashen; Tyger Whitaker, and Zachary Frasier; two brothers — Jimmy Baldwin of Sharples and Norman Baldwin of Madison; and eight sisters — Doris Carter of Danville, Francis Smith of Danville, Rosetta Sutphin of Julian, Catherine Ball of Six Mile, Bethelene Ball of Foster, Brenda Elkins of Hewett, Linda Kinser of Huntington, and Terena Davis of Buckhannon.

Ruth lived a life of love given to her family, her church, her friends and her God. And for that we consider her the greatest success of all, a person who truly lived the commandments. She always put God first and her Bible was her guidebook. She will be missed by her loved ones here on Earth and yet we know she is in a much better place.

A celebration of her life service will be held at the Monclo Freewill Baptist Church on Friday, Aug. 6, at 2 p.m. Rev. Joe Lane and Rev. Stacey Dingess will be officiating. Dinner will be served in the fellowship hall immediately after the service.

Naomi Jane Dunn Leffingwell

Naomi Jane Dunn Leffingwell, 81, of Quincy and a native of Boone County, died July 30, 2010, at Hubbard Hospice House in Charleston.

Naomi was formerly of Kelly's Creek and had lived in the Quincy area the past 47 years. She was a Baptist and a homemaker.

Surviving are her sons, Thomas Dunn of Diamond, Michael “Chuck” Dunn of Quincy; daughters, Deborah Zahniser of Holly Grove, Virginia Diane Dunn, Belinda Haynes and Anita Layton, all of Quincy; grandchildren, Clifford Crum Jr., Jennifer Jill Myers, Christy Crum, Toni Dillard, Lora Dunn, Tony Rumberg, Heather Craigo, Alishia Layton; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral service was held, Aug. 3, at Fidler and Frame Funeral Home, Belle, with the Rev. Jack Gregory officiating. Burial followed in Ward Cemetery, Ward.
