Dorothy Eleen Cook, 83, of Madison passed away on August 16, 2010 at CAMC Teays Valley Hospital, Hurricane.
She was born September 5, 1926 and was a daughter of the late, Kiefer R. and May Cormony Waddell. Her husband, Charles D. Cook, also preceded her in death.
She is survived by her son, Paul Cook of Huntington; daughter, Barbara Wolfe of Greensburg, Indiana; sister, Agnes Mathie of Charleston; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services were held Thursday, Aug. 19 at Handley Funeral Home, Danville with the Rev. Joe Lane officiating. Burial followed in Family Gardens at Low Gap, Madison.

Frances A. James
Frances A. James, 73 of Sandhill Bay Road, formerly of Chapmanvile, died Thursday, August 5, 2010 at Loris Community Hospital after a long illness. She was born April 7, 1937 in Lake, W.Va, a daughter of the late Luther and Mabel Miller Craddock.
In additions to her parents, she was also predeceased by her late brother, Freddie Joe Craddock; a very dear companion for eighteen years, Ed Harvey and a very special grandson-in-law, Scott Edward ball, who still kept a special place in her heart. Frances was married to the father of her children, Clifford James for over 30 years. She loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren very much. Her family was her life’s work. She enjoyed the simple things in life. Frances was a retired healthcare worker and she dedicated her life to loving and helping others.
Frances is survived by one son, Clifford James (Connie) of Loris; two daughters, Dinita Shawn Whipple) Tomas_ of Conway and Lana Miller (Bo) of WV; three brothers, Roger Craddock, Clyde Cradock (Rosemary) and Billy Ray Craddock (Rhonda) all of WV; three sisters, Betty Johnson of NC, Jenny Maynar of TN and Phyllis Peyton (Owen) of WV; one sister-in-law, Carol Caddock, ten grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and other family and friends who will miss her.
Funeral Services were held Saturday, Aug. 7, 2010 at Watson Funeral services Chapel with Rev. mark Elvis officiating. Burial followed at Westside Memorial Gardens Cemetery

Eula V. Stowers
Eula V. Stowers, 91, of Hopewell, passed away Saturday, August 21, 2010. She is the daughter of the late Wilbert and Eliza Lawson McCallister and was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Woodrow W. Stowers and a son, Phillip Stowers. Eula is survived by her children, Brian Stowers and wife June of Prince George, VA and Elouise Driggers and husband Raymond of Locust Grove, VA; grandchildren, Kevin Driggers, Lisa Johnson, Michelle Mauger, Scott Stowers, Valerie Montgomery, Sheila Wright and John Stowers; 12 great-grandchildren; 1 step great-granddaughter; two great great-grandchildren and two special sisters-in-law, Anna Watterson of Hamlin, WV and Judy Atkins of Hopewell. The family will receive friends Wednesday, August 25, 2010 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home and Cremation Service. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM in Sunset Memorial Park in Chester the same day.
