It was nice to see everyone who attended the 14th annual Brush Creek Grade School reunion this past Saturday. Many are already looking forward to the next one, which is always scheduled for the third Saturday in August.
The 2nd annual McDerment/McDorman Reunion will be Saturday, Sept. 4, 10:00 a.m. until dark at the Columbia Shelter, Coonskin Park, Charleston, West Virginia. Congratulations to Casey Joe and Jessca Ward on the birth of their daughter. Kimberly Ann was born June 29, weighing 6 lb, 1 oz. Grandparents are Arthur and Mary Ann Roberts of Alkol, Joey Ward of Ridgeview, and Mary Jane Tudor.
Annastacia Kirk graduated from high school in June and is ready to go to college to pursue a career in nursing. All family members in Ohio, West Virginia, and North Carolina are proud of Annastacia.

Coconut Breakfast Bread
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/4 cups flaked coconut, toasted
3/4 cup sugar
1 tbsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 1/2 cups milk
3 tbsp. butter, melted
1 tsp. coconut extract
Preheat oven to 350°F. Butter and flour a 9" by 5" by 3" pan. Combine flour, coconut, sugar, baking powder and salt in a large bowl and make a well in the center of the mixture. Combine the remaining ingredients. Add the liquids to the dry mixture and stir until well moistened. Spoon into loaf pan. Bake for one hour or until it tests done. Cool for 10 minutes in pan, then remove and cool completely on wire rack. Yields one loaf, which serves 8 to 10.
