First Baptist Church of Whitesville


The First Baptist Church of Whitesville will be having its Vacation Bible School the week of July 23-25, 2014, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. nightly.


Pre-K through 12th grade classes are available. The theme is “A Child is Born.”

Wharton Missionary Baptist Church VBS


The Wharton Missionary Baptist Church is calling boys and girls, grades K-12, for Vacation Bible School (VBS).


Planned activities include Bible study, crafts, music, sports, games, food and refreshments.


The time for the Bible School will be from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. daily from July 28 through July 31.

Olive Branch Missionary Baptist Church


Olive Branch Missionary Baptist Church, Turtle Creek, invites kids of ALL ages (cradle to high school seniors) to attend Vacation Bible School, Aug. 4th-8th, 6 to 8 p.m. The theme, “Weird Animals,” offers Bible study, music, crafts, games and food. Come, join the fun.

Vacation Bible School at New Hope Baptist Church


Children ages four-years-old to teens are invited to attend Vacation Bible School at New Hope Baptist Church, at 7 p.m. starting Wednesday, July 30th thru Sunday August 3rd.

Annual Car Show


Switzer Church of God will host its Annual Car Show, located on Rt. 44 Switzer on Saturday, August 30, 2014.


Registration from 9 a.m. to noon with the car show from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.


There will be music, concessions, door prizes and specialty trophies.

12-step Faith-Based Classes


12-step Faith-Based Classes will be offered at Prestera at Lick Creek Road in Danville on Fridays at noon.


They will also be offered at the Lick Creek Community Building on Lick Creek Road in Danville on Thursdays at 6:30 p.m.


These classes are open to the public.


Seeking families to make a difference


Burlington United Methodist Family Services is currently seeking foster homes in the Raleigh/Boone County area. Foster Parents will receive training and support. Please contact Steven or Lisa at 304-252-1598.


Lick Creek Community Church


Pastor: Richie Schultz. Location: 3 miles up Lick Creek. Road. on right. Times: Sunday: 10 a.m., Sunday School 11 a.m. Preaching. We also have two nightly services on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month at 7 p.m.

Prayer Connection Lighthouse


Prayer Connection Lighthouse in Danville is accepting donations of clothing, canned goods, furniture and garden foods.


Monetary donations can also be mailed to P.O. Box 159, Danville, WV 25053.


They also need volunteers from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
