Whitesville First Baptist Church
A 2 mile run and 1 mile walk will be held on March 15, 2014, at Whitesville First Baptist Church in Whitesville on the backstreet near the firehouse.
The entry fee is $15 for pre-registration and $20 the day of the race. Prizes include: t-shirt for all entries, top 3 male and female, and first overall in each age group. Age groups are: Under 20, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60-over.
Entry forms can be picked up at Mountaineer Drug or the church website: http://www.whitesvillefirstbaptist.org/.
A spaghetti dinner will follow from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The dinner will cost $5 and will include spaghetti, roll, dessert and drink.

All proceeds from both events will go to raise money for Dennis Dye’s 2014 Israeli-Palestinian missions project. Dennis is a deacon at the church and a teacher in Raleigh County.
This will be his 8th missions trip to Israel with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

Mahone Chapel United Methodist Church
The United Methodist Women of Mahone Chapel United Methodist Church at Ashford has begun its annual Easter Egg candy fundraising project.
Flavors available are peanut butter, smoothies, coconut, maple nut, cherry nut, and orange. The cost is $1 for 1/8 pound, $2 for 1/4 pound, and $3.50 for 1/2 pound. Suckers in various Easter patterns are 25 cents each.

Proceeds will benefit various church and charity projects.
There will be a Gospel Meeting at the Greenview Church of Christ March 10-14, at 7 p.m. nightly. The speaker will be Cliff Collins.

The Heart of God Soup Kitchen
The Heart of God Soup Kitchen is having a toy drive. We are taking donations of new toys to be given away, along with our Angel Tree gifts this Christmas season.

The church’s “Heart of God Soup Kitchen” serves free hot meals Monday through Friday between 1:30 and 5 p.m. Due to health department regulations, no food can be carried out.
The Heart of God Soup Kitchen is in desperate need of donations and grocery items. They are needing dry goods, canned foods, meats, garden foods, and other grocery items to help feed those in need. Monetary donations can also be mailed to P.O. Box 159, Danville, WV 25053.
The church or the kitchen does not give out cash or any other monetary assistance.
We would like to thank the community for all of its support and love. The soup kitchen feeds 1,448 hot meals.
