The above classmates from the Scott High School Class of 1961 gathered for their annual picnic on August 16 in the Skyhawk cafeteria. All reported a great time of fellowship, friendship, and a delicious lunch prepared by Darlene McClure. In front, from left: Hugh Browning (adopted classmate), Donna Jean Ellis Mahan, JoAnn Mullins Harmon, Glenda Hyer Styers, Bernice Jane Rice Canterbury, Carolyn Jones Young, Carolyn Hannah Mullins, Janet Price Yeager. Back row, from left: Tommy Mullins, Natalie Joyce Meadows, Diana Bunch Griffin Bunn, Becky Gullian Haley, John Pinkerman, Peggy Javins Barker, Linda Shelton Forinash, and Mike Fankhauser. In the fall of 1957, the Scott freshman class numbered 248, with 150 graduating four years later. The group has lost 38 classmates to death. As a lasting legacy, the ’61 grads set up a scholarship fund in celebration of their 50th year reunion. The project has been successful and for the last three years a $1,000 scholarship has been awarded to three deserving Scott High graduates. The class plans to continue the annual scholarship, and challenges other Scott High classes to begin a scholarship fund. Hope to see more ’61 grads at our 2015 reunion.
