WILLIAMSON - Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College announced today that AT&T has made a $10,000 contribution for scholarships as part of Southern Community College Foundation’s Vision 2020 Major Gifts Campaign. “There is no greater investment that any organization can make than in the education of West Virginia’s future leaders,” said Andy Feeney, Regional Vice President, AT&T. “The work that the Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College does is to be commended, as it keeps our youth on track to graduate and prepares them to succeed in the workforce.”
Southern Foundation President George Kostas commented that, “this gift from AT&T will support many educational opportunities for our local students.” “We are very fortunate to have a global company such as AT&T support our educational programs at Southern.” The support is part of AT&T Aspire, AT&T’s $350 million commitment to education. With more than 1 million students impacted since its launch in 2008, the AT&T Aspire program is one of the nation’s largest corporate commitments focused on helping more students graduate from high school ready for college and careers. AT&T Aspire drives innovation in education through investing locally in organizations making a measurable difference in stemming the high school dropout crisis; connecting people through its employees and customers; and seeking exponential change through national partnerships and technology and innovation.
The Southern Foundation was established in 1971 to support student scholarships and educational programs to those residing in southern West Virginia and eastern Kentucky.
