COMFORT — Last week, Boone County deputies arrested a Comfort man for wanton endangerment.
Bobby Ray Parsons, 73 years old, of Comfort was arrested early Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2013 for wanton endangerment, but his charges may be upgrades to kidnapping, according to Boone County Chief Deputy Chad Barker.
“He is being investigated for holding his wife at gunpoint against her will through Monday night and into Tuesday morning before she was able to escape,” Barker said. “At this time, it appears Parsons may suffer from Dementia or some other type of mental issues. We are working with the Prosecutor and Mental Health Care professionals to ensure the proper steps are taken to get Parsons the care he needs.”
Officers did use a parking lot near Sherman Elementary for a staging area, however no one at the school was ever in any danger, Barker said. Parsons lives approximately one mile from the school.
“School officials were notified of the situation and made aware we would be using the adjacent area for staging purposes,” Barker added. “No shots were fired during the situation and officers were able to convince Parsons to come outside of his home.”
Parsons was arraigned before Magistrate C. Porter Snodgrass.
