BOONE COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) — A Boone County community is in mourning after the recent death of a teenager.

Christopher Nelson was just 16 years old. He died Monday.

Christopher was a Sherman High School freshman who loved video games. He lived in Elkview.

A vigil will take place at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Racine Park in Christopher’s honor. Students plan to wear maroon and gold to honor him.

Friends say on a Facebook page that they will be taking up donations for Christopher’s family. They ask people to bring their own candles to the vigil.

The Boone County Sheriff’s Department is looking into Christopher’s death, trying to get some answers for the family.
