A Foster woman has been arrested for allegedly breaking into two homes.
Sara Elizabeth Halstead, 29, of Foster, was arrested and charged with two counts of burglary, according to Boone County Sheriff’s Department Chief Deputy Chad Barker.
Halstead was arrested early Tuesday morning, June 17, 2014, after police say she broke into two houses overnight on Monday, June 16, 2014.
“One of the home owners awoke to find Halstead standing at the foot of their bed,” Barker said. “Halstead had entered at least two residences that we are aware of and removed items without the owners permission.”
Barker said it also appears that both victims were home during the crimes.
“One woke up to confront the burglar,” he said.
Upon taking Halstead into custody, officers were able to locate property, according to Barker.
“That would indicate there may be additional victims,” Barker added. “If there are any other victims, they are asked to contact the Boone County Sheriff’s Office and report the crimes.”
Halstead was taken before Boone County Magistrate Charles Byrnside and arraigned. A $10,000 property or a $1,000 cash bond was set.
Halstead was able to post bond and is currently out of jail and awaiting further court proceedings.
Barker said that Halstead is no stranger to law enforcement and has prior felony convictions.
