MADISON — On Friday October 25th the Madison Civic Center will host a big time boxing match. The main event at “King of the Coal Fields 9” will feature Jon Hill vs. William “Wild Bill” Shahan for the West Virginia Heavyweight Title.
Hill who is from Charleston enters the contest with a 7-3 record and the Clarksburg native Shahan is 9-4. Both guys are big time punchers with 90 percent of their wins by the way of knockout. T
he winner of this 10 round contest will be crowned not only the best heavy weight in WV but will also be tabbed as the new UBF United States Northeast Heavyweight champion.
KOTCF 9 will feature 4 professional fights and 14 amateur bouts in total. Undefeated pro Don Pennington 2-0 of Huntington looks to remain unbeaten as he takes on Akron, Ohio’s Tierre King.
There is much anticipation for the return of KY native Cory Phelps.
After 4 years of layoff the 28 year old who carries a 13-6 record is ready to get back to action. The fourth and final professional matchup features KOTCF fan favorite Justin “Teddy Bear” Novaria from the buckeye state vs. West Virginia local boy George Oiler.
Many of the amateur fighters are home town talent as many Boone, Lincoln, and Logan county fighters will be participating.
