MADISON — In an abbreviated week due to inclement weather, the Scott Skyhawk boys basketball team fell to Poca, 70-49, last Wednesday.

The game, originally scheduled for Tuesday, was postponed because of the freezing temperatures that invaded Southern West Virginia. Then, the problems with public water supplies caused Friday’s game to be postponed.

Thus, the lopsided loss to Cardinal Conference foe Poca was the only thing the Skyhawks had to show for the week.

Poca jumped out to an 18-7 lead at the end of the first quarter and padded to 45-21 at the half. The Dots led, 53-33 at the end of three frames and won the last quarter, 17-16, to account for their victory margin.

N. Frampton and Chandler led the game scoring for Poca, with 17 points each.

Culfee added 15 for the Dots.

Logan Webb topped Scott, with 13 points. Sigmon and Lafauci, six each; Brown and Kuhn, five apiece; and Price and DeHart, three each.

The Hawks were set to return to action at Tolsia yesterday (Tuesday, January 14), although water woes still threatened the game and region.

A visit to Poca is scheduled for Friday, barring further calamities. Next Tuesday, January 21, Herbert Hoover of the Cardinal Conference is scheduled to come to Madison.
