HARTS — The Harts Middle School boys’ basketball team made quick work of Van Middle last Thursday as the Lions rolled to a 56-29 win at home over the Bulldogs.


Harts, now 8-1 on the season, led Van 17-5 after one quarter and 41-7 at the half after outscoring the Bulldogs 24-2 in the second. It was 48-14 after three.


Drew Williamson led Harts with a 22-point effort. He was 8-for-9 from the floor, including a perfect 3-for-3 from 3-point land. He also had four steals.


Ty Sturm had 10 points in the game for Harts. Nick Eldridge had eight, C.J. Dalton seven and Carson Toney five. Hunter Brumfield and Hunter Cook tossed in two each.


Toney also had eight rebounds to lead Harts.


Dalton had four steals, while Kyle Browning had three and Toney two.


The Harts Middle School boys are scheduled to play at Chapmanville on Tuesday. Harts then goes to Poca on Wednesday. HMS then hosts Hamlin on Thursday night.


The Lions go to Lenore on Feb. 8 at 11 a.m., host Kermit on Feb. 10, go to Man on Feb. 12 and then play Madison on Feb. 18 at the Charleston Civic Center at 11 a.m.
