Opie Harold Miller, 83, of Madison passed away Aug. 29, 2007, in Boone Memorial Hospital, Madison.

Born on Jan. 29, 1924, he was one of six children born to Allen Fillmore and Clara Halstead Miller of Foster.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Hager Miller; two brothers, Carlos and Fred Miller; and two sisters, Oma White and Olive Gibson.

He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend and is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Ronald Bryson of Midlothian, Va.; one grandson, Justin Bryson, also of Midlothian; one sister, Patsy Price of Mulberry, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.

He and his wife, Helen, married and settled in Madison where Opie went to work at Riverside Motor Company. His career spanned nearly 40 years of not only selling automobiles, but also making many long-lasting friendships. He was a proud member of Daniel Boone VFW Post 5578, Madison, was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in the 82nd Airborne, was a member of O'Dell Masonic Lodge 115 and Riverside Golf Club and attended the Church of Christ in Danville.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, at Handley Funeral Home, Danville. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens, Madison, with Masonic graveside rites.

Friends may call one hour prior to service at the funeral home.
