The Boone County Sheriff’s Department is warning the public about numerous scams floating around the area at this time.

Please never disclose any personal or bank account information over the telephone, according to a post on the Boone County Sheriff’s Department’s Facebook page.

“Several residents have received calls from persons stating they were with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) or with Publisher's Clearinghouse,” the post warned. “These are bogus calls asking for account information or requesting money transfers.”

If you are a victim or if you have any questions about odd telephone calls or letters, contact the Boone County Sheriff’s Department at 304-369-7340.
