The Boone County Grand Jury met in special session last week to consider the circumstances surrounding the murder of a Madison resident last winter, and has returned indictments against two people.

The grand jury returned indictments against Jason Ramsey and Natasha Davis on counts of first degree murder, felony murder and first degree robbery in the February 2, 2009 death of Eddie Ferrell, of Madison.

On that date, officers from the Madison Police discovered the body of Ferrell in his bedroom closet. Investigators said the man had been shot multiple times with his own gun. After obtaining records from the victim’s stolen cell phone, police tracked calls made after his death to a Gordon area home implicating Davis, 23, and Ramsey, 26, in the crime.

Law enforcement officials believe that the two alleged murderers shot Ferrell after stealing multiple prescription painkillers from the Walnut Avenue resident.

A special prosecutor was recently appointed in the case due the fact that Boone County Prosecutor Sam Hall was friends with the Ferrell family and that Ferrell’s sister, Francie Workman, was a long-time courthouse employee.

Officials said Ramsey and Davis may face trial in the case as early as next year.
