Summer is winding down and August is almost over. Football season is getting ready to kick into full speed and before we know it the leaves will start to change. I hope everyone has enjoyed their summer.

Deepest sympathy wishes go out to the family of Mary Sue Williams Brown, 71, of Wharton, passed away on Aug. 13 at CAMC Hospital's General Neurological Science Division in Charleston.

School starts on Aug. 26.

CHURCH NEWS

The Star of Bethlehem Freewill Baptist Church at Twilight and its pastor, Rev. Melvin Messer, invite everyone to attend their services Sunday mornings at 10:30, Sunday evenings at 7 and Wednesday evenings at 7. Children's Church is held each Wednesday. The church will have dinner at noon and afternoon service at 2 on the second Sunday of each month. Ricky Bailey drives the church van throughout the community. Anyone who wants a ride to and from church services should call Bailey at 245-8493.

Barrett Nazarene Church will hold its Annual Block Party on Aug. 23 from 5 to 7 p.m. Bring your family and friends for a evening of community fellowship. There will be games, food and prizes (school supplies). We hope to see you there!
