MADISON – A Madison woman was arrested on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol with child, DUI second offense, and a third misdemeanor charge related to the driving under the influence of alcohol charges, according to a criminal complaint filed in Boone County Magistrate Court on Dec. 16, 2012. Christina R. Miller, 36, of Madison, was identified as the driver of a vehicle near the McDonald’s restaurant parking lot in Madison when police noticed that she appeared to be in some type of dispute with a man, according to the criminal complaint. Boone County 911 dispatched a unit to the scene after receiving a call that a man was exchanging his children with his ex-wife and that the woman was late and drunk, the complaint states. When police approached Miller, she was inside her vehicle with the motor running, the complaint says. “The officer asked the female driver of the vehicle what was going on, she stated that she was there to pick up her children from her ex-husband and nothing was going on,” the report said. The officer reported smelling a strong odor of alcohol coming from Miller and said that her eyes were red and glossy. He asked her to turn off the vehicle and step out. Officers said standard field sobriety tests were performed and Miller failed them all. She was given a preliminary breath test, which was recorded as .284. The legal limit is .08 and Miller’s primary breath test on the Intoximeter performed at the police station read .264, which is nearly three times the legal limit. Miller’s bail was set at $9,000, which has since been posted and she remains free on bond. Miller was confirmed by Boone County Schools as being a current employee of the school system. According to state Department of Education personnel listings, she is listed as an “aide” at Brookview Elementary School in Foster. Boone County Schools Superintendent John Hudson says the school system does not have any type of off duty misconduct policies, but does have drug-free work-place policies. This is not Miller’s first run-in with law enforcement. About five years ago, Miller was arrested after she allegedly stabbed her husband during a domestic dispute. According to the criminal complaint filed in that case, police were called to the Hopkins Road home of Mark Miller after 911 dispatchers reported receiving a call from the home stating that “a woman had a saw, and her husband needed an ambulance.” Police said when they arrived at the home Mark Miller stumbled out onto his front porch covered in blood and said his wife was inside using a knife as a weapon. Officers reported finding Christina R. Miller lying in bed wearing a ripped white shirt and covered in blood and beer. She was charged with felony malicious wounding. Two days after the arrest, she was arrested again on driving under the influence of alcohol (DUI) and drug-related charges. She allegedly was in possession of a controlled substance (Hydrocodone) and possession of marijuana, less than 15 grams, according to the criminal complaint filed in this case. Her breath test during this arrest was recorded at .158, which was nearly double the legal limit. She admitted to police she had been drinking and that she snorted a Hydrocodone tablet. She was found with three more Hydrocodone pills in her pocket, a pipe with marijuana residue and rolling papers.
