S.C. fugitive captured in Peytona
A South Carolina fugitive wanted for attempted murder and kidnapping was caught in Boone County Friday.
James Shawver, 35, was arrested in Peytona. Police in South Carolina said he assaulted his wife with a box cutter and intended to kill her.
Police said he dragged her by her hair into the woods, and cut her more than 20 times.
Shawver was in Boone County staying with friends when U.S. Marshals, Department of Corrections officers, State Police, and Boone deputies went in to arrest him.
He is being held in the Southwestern Regional Jail.
