MADISON — The latest set of grand jury indictments returned last week in Boone County Circuit Court charge 46 individuals with crimes ranging from murder to sexual abuse to kidnapping to child neglect and drug offenses.
Timothy Ray Parsons, 36, was indicted on two counts of first-degree murder, one count of second-degree sexual assault and one count of kidnapping.
According to Boone County Sheriff Rodney Miller, Parsons allegedly killed his wife, mother-in-law and raped his 15-year-old step-daughter.
Miller said Gloria “Sue” Kinder, Parsons’ mother-in-law, and Leighanne Kinder-Parsons, Parsons’ wife, were stabbed to death at their home on River Avenue in Bloomingrose.
According to the criminal complaint, the 15-year-old told investigators while she was taking a shower about 11 p.m. on May 14, 2012, Gloria Sue Kinder went upstairs and found her daughter’s body, Leighanne Kinder, with her throat cut.
Gloria Sue Kinder was then confronted by Parsons who then bound her feet and hands and used a sharp instrument to cut her throat, killing her, according to the complaint.
Investigators say the juvenile states that’s when Parsons told her he was going to have sex with her. After the victim said no, Parsons told her he killed her mother and grandmother and threatened to kill her if she didn’t have sex with him, according to the complaint. Parsons then showed the juvenile the bodies of Gloria Sue Kinder and Leighanne Kinder-Parsons.
According to the complaint, Parsons then forcibly dragged the victim back downstairs to her bedroom and bound her hands and feet to the bed and assaulted her.
The 15-year-old told investigators Parsons stayed at the house until 9 a.m., Tuesday. A few hours later the girl was able to break loose from the bindings and go to a neighbor’s home for help.
Also indicted was Brian Lee King, 39, on one count of second-degree murder.
The indictment comes after King got into a fight with Roy “Cheesy” Gilliam, 23, on the roadway in the Jeffrey-Spencer area of Boone County in the early morning hours of Feb. 22, 2012, and allegedly stabbing him to death.
King is apparently claiming self-defense saying the fight was “over a woman” and that Gillam attacked him.
According to a criminal complaint, King had been in the car with Gillam’s girlfriend, Lori Stevenson, and Gillam found them. A fight broke out, and he was stabbed once in the chest.
Police testified that King admitted to the altercation with Gillam. He also later admitted to having a knife and striking Gillam once in the chest with it.
King, however, told police he was “in fear for his life.”
A visibly upset Stevenson testified that she was just giving King a ride to get a cell phone.
Others indicted included:
• Bobby McClanahan with one count of negligent homicide and one count of failure to drive on right side of roadway.
• Tressie Hayes with one count of sexual abuse by a parent, custodian or guardian, four counts of child neglect creating risk of injury and six counts of delivery of a controlled substance.
• Lawrence W. Doss with one count of first-degree sexual abuse and one count of sexual abuse by a person in a position of trust.
• Barry Wayne Clark with six counts of kidnapping, one count first-degree sexual assault, one count of malicious assault, one count of first-degree arson and one count of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver.
• James Steven Nelson with five counts of second-degree sexual assault.
• Alisha Marie Bearfield, Christopher John Carney, Michael David Foley and Jenna Mae Hudnall-Williams all with three counts of burglary, one count of grand larceny and one count of conspiracy.
• Richard David Dangott, II, and Matthew Franklin Rhodes, both with one count of grand larceny and one count of conspiracy.
• John Baldwin and Deanna Baldwin, both with two counts of operating a clandestine drug laboratory and one count of possession of substances to be used as precursor to manufacture of methamphetamine or another controlled substance.
• Michael Dillon Bazemore and Brittany Leebrooke Smith, both with one count of child neglect creating risk of injury.
• Jason Clay and Robert Buzzard, both with one count of grand larceny, one count of felony conspiracy, one count of disruption of communication services and one count of damage and destruction of public utility company property.
• Connie Lea New and Matthew Edward Estep, both with one count of delivery of a controlled substance, six counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, one count of possession with intent to manufacture a controlled substance and two counts of conspiracy.
• Courtney Nicole Akers with one count of child neglect creating risk of injury.
• Ronnie Eugene Atkinson with one count of grand larceny and one count of obtaining property by false pretenses.
• James Robert Bentler with one count of malicious assault.
• Johnny Dale Burgess with one count of operating or attempting to operate a clandestine drug laboratory, one count of exposure of children to methampethamine manufacturing, one count of child neglect creating risk of injury and one count of conspiracy.
• Shane M. Cook with one count of burglary, one count of grand larceny and one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
• Maurice Vernon Davis, Jr., with two counts of driving under the influence third or subsequent offense, one count of driving while license revoked for DUI third or subsequent offense, one count of driving while license suspended, one count of expired registration and one count of operating a vehicle without insurance.
• Susan Dotson with one count of delivery of a controlled substance.
• Justin T. Forbes with three counts of delivery of a controlled substance.
• Danny Ray Griffy with one count of fleeing from an officer in a vehicle, one count of reckless driving and one count of driving while license suspended for administrative reasons.
• Kevin Reed Halstead with one count of operating or attempting to operate a clandestine drug laboratory, one count of exposure of children to methampethamine manufacturing, one count of child neglect creating risk of injury and one count of conspiracy.
• Bruce Hill with one count attempted to obtain a controlled substance by misrepresentation, one count of conspiracy and one count of uttering.
• Michael Kent Justice with one count of transferring stolen property, one count receiving stolen property and one count of conspiracy.
• Bobby Ray Lester with one count of forgery and one count of uttering.
• Alisha Nichole Prichard with one count of delivery of a controlled substance.
• Michael Alan Prichard with one count of delivery of a controlled substance.
• Paul Frederick Frank Ramsey, II, with one count of delivery of a controlled substance and one possession with intent to deliver.
• Jonathon Stinson with one count of grand larceny.
• Marcus Thompson with two counts of delivery of a controlled substance.
• Frank Darris Toath with one count of attempted grand larceny, one count of conspiracy and one count of breaking and entering.
• James Vickers with one count of attempting to obtain a controlled substance by misrepresentation, one count of obtaining possession of a controlled substance by misrepresentation, one count of conspiracy, two counts of forgery and two counts of uttering.
