MADISON — A proclamation for BCARSE week was presented to the Boone County Commission approximately three weeks ago for recognition. Following the vote, all three county commission members signed it.
Our local chapter meets six times a year where current events are discussed, issues that concern the retirees are presented by local and state officers, goals are created and very often met by diligent pursuit of the organization.
We meet with other chapters of the State and the members of the West Virginia Legislature every February to encourage legislation that will be beneficial to all school employees that are retired. We always strive to care for one another.
We undertake projects that are helpful to the needs of many within the county and sometimes statewide.
We revere the life and educational needs of each child in the county and now provide a scholarship for be awarded annual to a deserving high school graduate.
We make efforts to express appreciation to ALL school employees for their contributions to meeting the needs of all children as they start to school and continue to learn and mature.
These important persons are educators, principals, secretaries, bus drivers, custodians, teacher’s aides, cooks, and administrative personnel.
Our local membership remains approximately 245 persons. Our volunteer hours are always 30,000 plus.
Even though the members are retired, some in advanced senior years, they continue to serve in many capacities.
As we approach this special week to recognize Boone County retired school employees, we hope the citizens of Boone County will join with us as we serve in every way possible to share our time and talents for the sole purpose of helping educate the children of our county.
