Some people are wondering if reports that the star of MTV’s controversial reality show “BUCKWILD” was found dead in a car in West Virginia is some type of April Fools Day’s prank, but according to several confirmed media reports the story is true. The Charleston Gazette reports that the body of Shain Gandee was found in a truck in Kanawha County today after he reportedly went off-roading with a family member. Two other bodies were also located. Authorities issued a missing persons report for Gandee, 21, and his uncle, David Gandee, 48, earlier today. The duo was last season at a Sissonville bar early Sunday, where they said they planned to go four-wheeling. The newspaper said the family searched for the men Sunday before calling 911. Family members say 27-year-old Robert Myers, who worked at a Subway restaurant in Sissonville, was the third person found dead in Sissonville. A spokesperson for MTV said in a statement, "We are shocked and saddened by the terrible news about Shain Gandee, and those involved in this tragic incident. We are waiting for more information but at this time, our main concern is for the Gandee family and their friends. Our thoughts and prayers are with them. Shain had a magnetic personality, with a passion for life that touched everyone he met and we will miss him dearly." Shain Gandee was one of the most popular cast members on "Buckwild," earning the nickname "Gandee Candy" for his wild stunts and sunny disposition. Last month, MTV announced that it ordered a second season of Buckwild, which focuses on Gandee and eight other 20-somethings who live in the small town of Sissonville. Though the show generated negative headlines early on — a West Virginia senator claimed that the show “plays to ugly, inaccurate stereotypes” — it averaged 3 million viewers in Jersey Shore‘s old Thursdays-at-10 p.m. slot. In MTV’s target demo of 12- to 34-year-olds, Buckwild was the No. 1-rated original cable series on Thursday nights.
