GOVERNOR TOMBLIN ORDERS U.S. AND STATE FLAGS LOWERED

CHARLESTON -- In concurrence with a presidential proclamation, Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin today issued a proclamation ordering all U.S. and state flags displayed at state facilities be lowered to half-staff the entire day of Friday, December 7, 2012 in commemoration of National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day.
"Throughout the years, many West Virginians have offered their selfless service to ensure our safety and freedom," Gov. Tomblin said. "National Pearl Harbor Day is an opportunity for us to honor those who bravely defended our country during one of the deadliest attacks on our shores and preserve their stories for future generations. I'm honored to recognize their heroism."
National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day is observed annually on December 7, to pay tribute to the heroes whose courage ensured our nation's recovery after the attack on Pearl Harbor.
