UNEEDA -- An experienced worker at the Liberty coal preparation plant in Boone County suffered fatal injuries Thursday, May 17, 2012, in a fall at the plant.
Clyde Dolin, 57, a mechanic at the plant, passed away Thursday afternoon, May 17, 2012, after being transported from the Liberty plant near Uneeda to Boone Memorial Hospital.
He had a total of 39 years of experience in the coal industry.
Dolin is survived by his wife Pam, his daughter Brittany and his son Clyde.
“All of us are saddened by the loss of our friend and co-worker, Clyde Dolin,” said Eric Salyer, president of Independence Coal. “He was a bit of an institution here as he had long service at the plant under its various owners. We will miss him. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family in this time of sorrow.”
Independence Coal Company, Inc. has operated the plant since 1994 without a fatal accident. Alpha acquired Independence Coal with its acquisition of Massey Energy in June 2011.
