Ramage apartments where meth lab found cleared to reopen
by FRED PACE, EDITOR
RAMAGE -- Apartments in Ramage were reopened today after the health department testing ruled them to be safe. The owner of the apartments, Debra Sanders of Danville, received a letter of clearance after two Simon Environmental, LLC, licesnsed cladenstine drug lab technicians collected nine composite samples for analysis for residual methamphetamine. The six unit apartments were closed on May 9, 2013, after a meth lab was recovered by the Boone County Sheriff’s Department. The apartment complex, located along Route 17 in Ramage, had to be evacuated after a meth lab bust. “The six apartment units were closed and occupants were removed pending testing and health department rulings,” said Boone County Chief Deputy Chad Barker. Barker said all steps were followed and the apartments were opened today. “The property owner followed proper protocol,” Barker added. Samples were done in the living rooms, kitchens, bathrooms, bedrooms and the walls of the apartment units, according to the Simon Environmental, LLC, report. “Based on our testing results and the law of West Virginia, this apartment complex can be re-occupied,” the report stated. A copy of the report was sent to the West Virginia Department of Health & Human Resources’ Clandestine Drug Lab Program.
