Are you prepared for the “Zombie Apocalypse?”
The Boone County Health Department (BCHD) will be having an interesting and fun training soon that is being used by health departments around the country.
The BCHD will be holding an Open Point of Distribution Exercise (POD) at Scott High School on Saturday, May 4, 2013 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.
This event is open to the public.
This is a training exercise to help prepare BCHD, community partners, and the public in the event of a real bioterrorism incident.
The name of the BCHD exercise is “Zombie Apocalypse” and prizes will be awarded for best dressed zombie, best zombie walk, etc. This scenario has been promoted by CDC and used by health departments around the country as a way of recruiting and training.
"We hope to expect large crowds and are inviting our emergency responders to assist us as if this were a real emergency," said Lisa Holstein with the BCHD. "BCHD is reaching out to you, the community, to help us test our ability to respond by taking part in this fun learning event."
Don’t be a zombie, be prepared!
