Four sentenced to prison on various felony charges

MADISON – A Wharton man was sentenced to prison for transporting and conspiring to transport controlled substances into the state, according to Boone County court records.Jeffrey Scott Sharp, 37, of Wharton, was sentenced on Sept. 10, 2014, to 1 to 3 years in prison for transportation of controlled substances into the state and 1 to 5 years for conspiring to transport controlled substances into the state.In June 2013, Sharp received a package by U.S. mail containing alprazolam (Xanax), which is a schedule IV controlled substance. The package was postmarked from Lynnwood, Washington.Sharp conspired with Keith and Tonya Blevins to use their post office box to receive the package, according to the criminal complaint.
