Dear Editor,

I recently read an article written by Timothy Kiger on the report of the annual Land Use Management Forum turning useless mined land into productive real estate for economic and industrial growth.

They got the first part right when they said useless, because that's exactly what it is.And you can't pull infrastructure off a mountain after it's leveled. They say the possiblities are limitless, so keep up what your doing. One thing I didn't hear them mention was who was going to have to sacrifice.

I'll tell you who will be. It's the people who live in these hollows below. How many more communities are they going to destroy? How many more lives have to be put in danger because there's a landfill behind their property that causes flooding, and the impound ponds hanging over their heads putting toxic chemicals in their drinking water, the blasting that occurs that will crack the foundation of a home.

These communities have been here hundreds of years and now they are under attack from these coal barons who don't give a damn about people's lives or their heritage.

It will be the communities that will make the sacrafice. Just a last reminder that God created this beautiful land of ours, and he left it to his children to take care of, not to destroy and level. We are the protectors of the mountains, and are going to do everything in our power to stop MTR.

Sincerely,

Chuck Nelson,

Glen Daniel
