Eight Boone County football standouts received All State honors with the release of the 2006 West Virginia Sportswriters Association All State squads last week.

Topping the list of Boone players were a trio of Scott Skyhawks who earned First Team Class AA All State honors.

Skyhawk senior Elijah Smith, a three-year contributor on both sides of the ball at Scott, earned a First Team pick as an offensive lineman. Smith, an offensive guard, was a key cog in the Skyhawk ground game.

Scott’s Donovan Pearson, also a senior, was tabbed as a First Team linebacker. Pearson, who led the Skyhawks in tackles each of the last three seasons, was the CVN Boone Defensive Player of the Year the last two years.

Scott tailback Jordan Roberts, a junior, earned a First Team spot as a utility player on offense. Roberts rushed for over 2,200 yards in 2006, tallying 37 total touchdowns rushing, receiving, and passing. He was the CVN ‘06 Boone County Offensive Player of the Year.

Skyhawk junior Dennis Roberts, a guard and big-play defensive lineman, earned Special Mention plaudits in Class AA.

Sherman senior Brandon Treadway, also a standout running back, earned a Class AA Second Team nod in the defensive secondary.

Twin brother Justin Treadway, a senior two-way standout at d-back and running back, received a Class AA Special Mention slot.

Sherman senior Ricky Seaberg, a solid three-year contributor who played in the trenches on both sides of the ball, was picked to the AA Honorable Mention list.

Van Bulldog senior Jon Simms, an offensive tackle-defensive end, was awarded Honorable Mention Class A plaudits.

All eight Boone All State players were named to the CVN All County squad last month.
