No offense to you blondes out there, but I thought this was pretty funny. I won't reveal my source.
SNOW BLONDE
One winter morning a couple was listening to the radio over breakfast.
They hear the announcer say, "We are going to have 8 to 10 inches of snow today. You must park your car on the even-numbered side of the street, so the snowplows can get through."
Norman's wife goes out and moves her car.
A week later while they are eating breakfast again, the radio announcer says, "We are expecting 10 to 12 inches of snow today. You must park your car on the odd-numbered side of the street, so the snowplows can get through."
Norman's wife goes out and moves her car again.
The next week they are again having breakfast, when the radio announcer says, "We are expecting 12 to 14 inches of snow today. You must park...."
Then the power goes out.
Norman's wife is very upset, and with a worried look on her face she says, "Honey, I don't know what to do. Which side of the street do I need to park on so the snowplows can get through?"
With the love and understanding in his voice that all men who are married to blondes exhibit, Norman says, "Why don't you just leave it in the garage this time?"
A very special person is celebrating a special birthday today. Happy birthday to Carla Subyak of Chapmanville! She and Adam are the parents of a daughter, Megan. Carla is the daughter of Jeanne (Ed) Elkins. Carla was quite surprised on Sunday when the church honored her with a birthday celebration. I won't reveal her age, but it isn't every day that someone celebrates their half century mark, now is it? I hope her "Over the Hill Survival Kit" comes in handy.
Celebrating his birthday on January 22nd. will be Shane Marcum of Clendenin. He is the son of Mike and June Marcum of Lake.
Bonnie Montgomery will be celebrating her birthday on Tuesday. She and Ronnie live at Sumerco.
Happy 35th. anniversary today to some special friends, Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Pickett of Blair! They are the parents of Joey (Debbie) and Jaime Pickett, and they have a grandson Zach. Debbie's dad is Holly (Wanda) Goodwin of Madison.
Terry and Brenda Spears of Bim will be celebrating an anniversary on Tuesday.
I certaily enjoyed the article in last week's paper about Dagmar Williamson.
It is good to know that she is still up to her same old tricks!
Condolences go out to the family of Jake Henry Jr. of Ottawa who passed away recently.
Also, our sympathies to the family of Cecil Marcum of Bias' Branch, who passed away last week.
Thanks to my friend Peggy Booth for sharing this with me. It has great meaning!
CHEROKEE INDIAN RITE OF PASSAGE
Do you know the legend of the Cherokee Indian youth's rite of passage? His dad takes him into the forest..blindfolded...and leaves him....alone.
He is required to sit on a stump the whole night...and not take off the blindfold until the ray of sun shines through it. He is all by himself.
He cannot cry out for help to anyone. Once he survives the night..he is a MAN. He cannot tell the other boys of this experience. Each lad must come into his own manhood.
The boy was terrified...could hear all kinds of noise...Beasts were all around him. Maybe even some human would hurt him. The wind blew the grass and earth... And it shook his stump. But he sat stoically..never removing the blindfold. It would be the only way he could be a man.
Finally, after a horrific night..the sun appeared and he removed his blindfold. It was then that he saw his father..sitting on the stump next to him...at watch...the entire night.
We are never alone. Even when we do not know it, our Father is protecting us...He is sitting on the stump beside us.
All we have to do is reach out to Him.
