The Scott Lady Hawks made history last Wednesday night, even though it’s something they probably don’t want to be remembered for.

The newly consolidated Lincoln County High School Lady Panthers invaded the Hawk’s Nest searching for their first win of the season and the school’s first-ever win in girl’s hoop action.

They found it with a 52-48 overtime win over the Lady Hawks.

Lincoln County led 12-8 after the first quarter and then took a 23-16 lead into the dressing room at the half.

Scott held the third and fourth quarter advantages 11-8 and 17-13 for a 44-44 tie after regulation play.

The Lady Panthers, however, scored eight points in the overtime period while the Hawks managed only four points for the difference in the game.

The win was the first ever for LC; the loss dropped Scott to 4-4.

The Lady Hawks were led by junior point guard Rachel Holstein who finished with 16 points including a three. Freshman Katie added 10 points which also included a three.

Junior Micah Ballard tallied seven Black and Gold markers; sophomore Kortney Browning netted six, and freshman Brittani Adkins followed with five.

Rounding out the scoring for the Black and Gold were freshman Ciera Bias with three and junior Kohle Maynard with one.

Ballad and Adkins pulled down 11 and 10 boards respectively. Holstein grabbed seven and Maynard four.

Holstein also finished with six assists and five steals.

The Lady Hawks return to action this week with a pair of home contests.

On Tuesday, they entertain county-rival, and sectional-foe Sherman and on Thursday, it’s a rematch with the highly-touted Charleston Catholic Lady Irish. The Irish defeated Scott back on December 8 by a score of 50-30.
