Among the indictments issued last week by the Boone County Grand Jury was a 393 count accusation of child sexual abuse and sexual assault against one man.

Grand jurors returned the indictments against Johnny Buster Likens, 52, of Hollywood Branch Road on U.S. 119. For over two decades, Likens ran a foster home for an unknown number of young men and women. Last summer, accusations of sexual assault against him led to his arrest and questions as to whether he had molested more than one of his foster children over the years.

Throughout the summer and fall, law enforcement began to receive reports of some of the children that lived in his home during the 1980’s, 90’s, and during the past six-years that accused the man of various sex-related offenses. The Boone County Sheriff’s Department even passed on a chance this fall to seek indictments against Likens in order to better research the constantly burgeoning case.

Last week, investigators presented their case to grand jurors. The indictments, obtained by the Coal Valley News, outlined a list of accusations by at least nine of his former charges that spanned from 1984 through last summer.

The alleged victims, both male and female, were of all ages. The document lists allegations by children as young as eight, ten, and as old as 17. The counts accuse Likens of having unlawful, long-term sexual relationships with individual children for as long as four years in at least one case.

The nearly 400-page indictment charged Likens with multiple counts of sexual abuse by a custodian, first-degree sexual abuse, sexual abuse by a parent or guardian, second degree sexual assault and first degree sexual abuse.

Likens faces a preliminary hearing in Boone County Circuit Court on January 30.

The defendant, who is believed to be in the United States illegally, was working for a contractor supplying mining support services. Sheriff Rodney Miller said at the time that Sanchez-Rubio did not have a legitimate drivers license and was driving a truck leased from a Kentucky dealership. He was also working in the US on a counterfeit green card.
