He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War serving in the US Army. Mr. Hollingsworth retired as a Sergeant First Class with the United States Army after 23 years of service. Sergeant First Class Hollingsworth received numerous awards including the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with One Bronze Service Star, the World War II Victory Medal and the Korean Service Medal. After retirement from the military, Mr. Hollingsworth then became a heavy equipment operator for the State of Delaware and also retired from there. James was also a member of the Camp Knox Masonic Lodge #919 in Radford, KY.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife Jeannette Hollingsworth in 2003. He was also preceded in death by brothers Orville Hollingsworth, Pierce Hollingsworth, Edgar Hollingsworth, Edwin Hollingsworth and Roy Pauley. He was preceded in death by step brothers, Troy Pauley, Stencil Pauley, Boyd Pauley, & Herchell Pauley. He was preceded in death by sisters, Anna Goldsbury, Pearl Mays, Myrtle Calahan and step sister Marcie Holstien.
He is survived buy a stepdaughter Yvonne Timmons of New Castle, DE; 9 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and 12 nephews. A funeral service was held January 18 at the Frankford Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, Thatcher St., Frankford. Burial was in Dagsboro Redmens Memorial Cemetery in Dagsboro.
