SETH - Leading by 15 points (43-28) at halftime, the Sherman Tide splashed Van’s Bulldogs with a 27-10 third quarter smack and cruised to a 95-51 Boone County win here last Friday night.

Celebrating Senior Night, five Sherman seniors (Michael Kirk, Brandon Treadway, Chris Carney, Justin Treadway, and David Henderson) hit for double figures as the balanced Tide, now 12-6 on the season, rolled over the ‘Dogs.

Guard David Henderson’s three-pointer less than two minutes into the third frame gave Sherman its first 20-point lead of the night at 50-28, and opened the flood gates for the Tide.

Justin Treadway added an in-the-paint three-point play less than 30 seconds later for a 53-28 Sherman lead. Chris Carney’s hoop midway through the period pushed the Tide lead to 60-30.

Brandon Treadway and Michael Kirk were major first half contributors as the Tide built up a 15-point halftime lead.

Brandon Treadway nailed an in-the-paint hoop at the end of the opening period for a 23-14 Tide lead, then added a pair of offensive rebound, put-back hoops in the second quarter.

Kirk scored on a coast-to-coast drive in the first stanza, then handed Sherman its 43-28 halftime advantage when he tallied a two-pointer off of an assist from Henderson.

The Van Bulldogs’ scoring was led by senior center Jon Simms and sophomore forward Jared Thomas with 12 points each and junior point guard Jeremy Gannon with 11 points.

Simms netted two free throws, an offensive rebound hoop, and a short jumper in the lane to help keep the Bulldogs within striking distance through most of the first half.

Gannon found the nylon on a pair of early drives to the hoop while Thomas hit a baseline jumper and netted an inside hoop off of an assist from Gannon.

Freshman Donnie Markins added four points for Van while Jordan Puckett and Rickey Runion also had four points each. Roger Runion and Roberto Scampini each scored two Van points.

David Henderson led a balanced Tide attack with 19 points, including a trio of three-pointers, and added six rebounds, four assists, and three steals. Brandon Treadway tallied 18 points and snared 12 rebounds.

Justin Treadway (eight assists, six rebounds) and Michael Kirk (four assists) added 17 and 16 points respectively and Chris Carney netted 10 points.

Justin Maloskey and Colby Treadway contributed six points each and senior Jonathan “Yanno” Buzzard added a three-pointer to the Tide scoring. Joanathan Bowman claimed five rebounds.

Sherman head coach Jim Henderson stated, “We didn’t play good defense in the first half, it seemed like we were just trying to outscore Van. We created some transition baskets with our defense early in the second half when we started to pull away.”

The Tide will close out regular season action by hosting Sissonville this Thursday and by hosting Hannan this Friday.

Sherman will compete in Class AA Region Six, Section One Tournament play at Logan High. Both games will begin at 7:30 p.m.

Scott and Chapmanville will meet in that sectional opener on Tuesday, February 27th with the Tide facing the winner of that game for the sectional title on Friday, March 2nd.

The Bulldogs completed a five-win regular season.

The Van boys will compete in Class A Region Eight, Section Two tourney action at Gilbert.

Van will face Gilbert on Tuesday, March 27th with Man meeting the winner of that opener for the sectional title on Friday, March 2nd.
