The Black and Gold blasted Logan on February 8, winning 69-21, but lost to the Tolsia Lady Rebels on Friday, February 16, by a score of 56-45.
Scott 69, Logan 21
The Lady Hawks won the season series over the Lady Cats with a 69-21 blasting at Logan on February 8; they won the first match back on January 22.
Scott led 16-9 at the end of the first quarter, but really put the game away in the second period as they burned the nets for 19 points while the Lady Cats managed only a basket.
The Boone County girls led 35-11 at intermission.
The second half was all Lady Hawks as they continued putting up points.
Scott scored 21 points in the third quarter and 13 in the fourth and final quarter as Logan mustered only 10 points in the entire second half (seven in the third and three points in the fourth period) to set the final score 69-21.
Offensively, the Lady Hawks were led by sophomore Kortney Browning with 13 points, three rebounds, eight assists, and three steals.
Junior Micah Ballard finished with 12 points and four rebounds and junior point guard Rachel Holstein added 10 points, three assists, and three steals.
Freshman Ciera Bias netted nine points, five rebounds, and five assists.
Another freshman, Katie Tadlock contributed nine points (including three treys) and five boards.
Juniors Holly Turley and Kohle Maynard, who saw limited action, added five and four points respectively. Turley also finished with two assists and three steals and Maynard recorded two rebounds, one assist and one steal.
Freshman Brittani Adkins tallied a bucket, six boards, three steals and three blocked shots.
Freshman Katie Harmon and Emily Vickers rounded out the scoring for Scott with three and two points.
Logan was led by senior Kori White and junior Christie Spurlock who finished the contest with seven and six points respectively.
Tolsia 56, Scott 45
Scott hoped to make it two wins this season over the Lady Rebels, but Tolsia was out to avenge an earlier season loss to the Lady Hawks.
Tolsia came out on top 56-45.
The Black and Gold trailed only 10-8 after the first eight minutes, but fell cold in the second quarter as the Rebels picked apart the Lady Hawk defense, scoring from inside the paint to lead 26-17 at halftime.
The Lady Rebels kept the same game plan in the third quarter and built up a 43-25 lead going into the last eight minutes of action.
Scott, however, would give it a valiant effort in the fourth quarter as they got as close as five points late, but Tolsia staved off the rally to win 56-45.
Rachel Holstein led Scott with 12 points.
She was followed by Kortney Browning with 11.
Holly Turley added six, Katie Tadlock and Brittani Adkins finished with five, and Micah Ballard, Kohle Maynard, and Ciera Bias tallied a basket each.
Adkins swiped 10 rebounds, Ballard eight, Browning six, Turley five, and Maynard three for Scott.
Browning recorded eight steals and Holstein added four assists.
The loss closes out the regular season for the Lady Hawks. They finish the 2006-07 hoop season with a 12-9 record.
On Wednesday, they open Region VI, Section 1 play against the Chapmanville Lady Tigers.
The Lady Hawks defeated the Lady Tigers in the first match up at Chapmanville by a score of 62-58.
The two teams did not play a second game due to weather.
The Sherman Lady Tide awaits the winner of the Scott-Chapmanville game for the sectional championship on Saturday.
This year’s sectional tournament will be held at Sherman High School.
