A Boone County man has died as a result of injuries received in an early Saturday morning traffic crash at Rock Creek.

The two vehicle crash took place around 5:30 a.m. on WV Route 3 near Foster. The 2004 Saturn was traveling west on when the driver apparently lost control of the car, traveled across the road sideways into the eastbound lane, and into the path of an oncoming 2002 Chevrolet pickup truck.

The driver of the Saturn was 40 year old William Richard Gray of Danville, who died at the scene. The driver of the truck was James F. Walker, of Madison. Walker was treated and released from Boone Memorial Hospital that same morning.

BCSD investigators believe that speed was a contributing factor in the crash. Investigators are not able to determine if Gray was not wearing seat belts at the time of the incident. No charges are expected to be filed in the accident.

The investigation of the crash is being conducted by Boone County Sheriff’s Office Deputy B.G Goodwin. Also responding to the scene was the Danville Volunteer Fire Department and the Boone County Ambulance Authority.
