Winfield led 3-0 after the first inning, however, in the second inning, Lady Tide catcher Santonia hit a solo home run (the first of her career) to cut the General lead to 3-1.
The Lady Generals added additional runs in the third and in the fourth and the Boone girls added a run in the bottom of the fourth to set the margin of victory.
Winfield pitcher, junior Kristin Workman allowed only two hits. The Generals committed one error.
Stone took the loss on the mound. She gave up only four hits, but errors helped seal the win for the Putman County girls. She also struck out six.
Santonia’s homerun, RBI, and run scored led Sherman offensively. Summers added a hit and Hudson scored a run.
With the loss, the Lady Tide record goes to 4-3.
